Variables
Ring-necked Pheasant
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with more than 22%
agricultural land and elevation (hex. avg.) of less than 1420 ft. Almost
as likely to occur in hexagons with 6-21% agricultural land and a May
maximum temperature (hex. max.) of 19-25 C and May precipitation
(hex. min.) of 10-33 mm. Also likely to occur in hexagons with 1-5%
agricultural land and April minimum temperature (hex. med.) of 0 to --
2 C. Where no agricultural lands, occurred mainly in hexagons with
July precipitation (hex. avg.) of 10.6-11.6 mm and with
lakes/reservoirs in more than 1% of their area. The logistic regression
analysis showed positive or negative association with agricultural
lands, towns and cities, road density, ponderosa pine mixed conifer
forest (Northeast Oregon), the extent of public land, April precipitation
(hex. min.), June minimum temperature (hex. avg.), June minimum
temperature (hex. max.), July minimum temperature (hex. avg.), and-
to a lesser degree-May maximum temperature (hex. avg.).
